Philadelphia County

What we do in Philadelphia

Philadelphia has one of the highest big-city poverty rates in the nation, and thousands of older adults live alone on fixed incomes. Recent SNAP changes removed benefits from tens of thousands of local households.

Caring for Friends pairs food with friendship: volunteers deliver meals directly into homes and stay for a visit, so nobody in Philadelphia goes hungry or unseen.

  • Home-delivered meals for homebound seniors and people with disabilities
  • Snack bags and hot meals for neighbors experiencing homelessness
  • Partner pantries, shelters, and faith kitchens supplied weekly from our Townsend Road warehouse
  • Summer sandwich and school-year support for students
